So that's the my second week finished and gosh... I didn't realise my body stored so much energy! The children of Year 2 have blown my mind with how enthusiastic they are.

This week I observed a PE lesson to which only contained half the children in the class, unfortunately with the Year 2 SATS looming Numeracy and Literacy catch-up or revision sessions have become a priority. The first thing I noticed with the remaining children is how much they love to utilise different skills, be free and active. They had FUN!
My class teacher / mentor is the PE co-coordinator therefore I will be questioning the expert at great length about assessment when the opportunity arises (A possible target). However, the school do follow a brilliant scheme of work provided by Lancashire County Council. Each lesson plan contains broken down objectives, success criteria, clear progressions for skills, diagrams of any games the children are required to play and assessment pointers. These are fabulous for those nervous teachers and for those that are adamant on consistency.
The class teacher and I have decided that I will deliver the next PE session! This will be a first for me so we'll see how that goes!
My targets for this week were-
1. To manage class effectively using approaches which are appropriate to the pupils’ needs in order to involve and motivate them. TS7
Frequently give out pennies for resilience when working, listening on the carpet, good sitting
Contributed to the choosing of the children to feature in the golden book
Followed routines
Uphold school rules, adhered to the behaviour policy of the school (Golden time)
High expectations
Engaged them with tasks when necessary
Modelled appropriate behaviours and actively promoted good behaviours
2. To demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge. TS3
I completed research before teaching to ensure my knowledge is up-to-date
Planned gradual progressions for the children in Maths
Attended a staff meeting about Religious Studies
Taught a range of Maths, RE, SPaG, PE, Geography
