You maybe thinking that the answer to the question posed in the title is Summer... WRONG! For the second year trainees it's time for us to start preparing for professional practice.
I am very excited to announce that I will be training at...

Within the Year 2 class!
My first thought to this was excitement as I have met the majority of the staff already and they were so friendly!
My second thought was SATS... Year 2 will take various SATS papers during the time I will be teaching whole class lessons. PRESSURE!
Finally, my third thought was determination! As a 2nd year trainee I feel more prepared for placement on the whole, more confident in my approaches to teaching and ready to employ strategies that I support and understand in the classroom. I am determined to make progress from my first year placement!
How will I achieve this?-
During this placement I will be focusing on methods of monitoring and recording assessments of the child. I plan to closely observe the class teacher and follow the procedures already in place however, I would also like to use my Activ Expression kit (Promethean) to act as an AFL strategy. This technology has the ability to quiz the children via timed polls, open and closed questions and self-paced multiple choice questions. I am hopefully going to trail this technology when monitoring the children's timetable knowledge. The devices ask the questions, the children submit their answers and instant results are recorded and can be printed. It is even possible to differentiate the questions so that specific children only receive questions from the 2 timetable or the 10 timetable. will also be setting myself weekly targets to achieve throughout the 8 week placement. Soooooooooo... I'll let you know how that goes!
In the mean time I will be researching the Year 2 curriculum, gathering the necessary paperwork, familiarising myself to the policies of the school and keeping up with my part-time job.
