Learning Without Levels

I have decided to blog about this article as it highlights the recent changes to the methods teachers use to monitor pupil progress... without levels.

One idea I really liked is the use of learning review meetings. The children are given the chance to self reflect and prepare a short presentation to show what they have achieved... a celebration for their family, teachers and the headteacher to attend. I would argue that it is a great pedagogy to use as the children feel in control of their learning and can take pride in what they have achieved. Not to mention plan their next steps to meeting their personal goals.

However... this method no matter how effective, could be very time consuming for all parties. Finding the time to fit this is the day could be impossible!

Although...this is a great way to get parents involved in their child's learning! This gives them the opportunity to offer their children support.

This article recommends using this strategy in Years 5 and 6- Upper KS2.
