During professional practice I had the chance to go to the EYFS and they went on a school trip to the local woodlands. Lucky me... I got to go on another school trip! I was given a very detailed booklet which included the groupings of children, the risk assessment and the itinerary. Personally, I was responsible for 5 children, a mixture of both the nursery and reception classes.
This trip gave the children the opportunity to experience the story of Stanley Stick first hand and pick a stick to take back to class, prior to the trip the children were asked to design the purpose for their stick. There were some fantastic ideas... one child turned their stick into a magic wand. This trip was beneficial for the children as they explored the area and learnt through play whilst meeting the learning outcome.
